365 days?

Well I am thinking it is that time once again that we should all reflect on our lives. The friends we have made, lost, re-connected with (face book). Goals we have reached, or fell shy of reaching, or were too scared to attempt. Love that has changed, grown, blossomed, lost? A year 365 days. In the grand scheme of things it is a blimp on our radar, a moment in a very long life.

Think about it, I have been on this earth for approximately 11,325 days, and counting. So for me most of those days have been, as my son tells me almost every day " This was the best day of my life!" Oh to be 6 again, the simple days movies, video games, sports, friends, family, food, warmth, health and love. Hey once you put it all out there I have all of that, and then some.

While cruising on face book today I noticed that some of you have done your year in status. You can really tell what kind of person you are, by looking at what you have written. You know the old glass half full or empty saying. Most of you will never get what I am saying until you look and see it all there in front of you in black and white. Most of you use your status to tell of the adventures and funny things that have happened to you and your family. Which I enjoy, and say keep them coming! Some use it to talk about sports, news, school, kids, spouse, work. Just a note to you, I don't want to know that you and _____ are fighting! No one cares but you!!! ( just sayin). You also have we are going to save the world, one dog, human, do gooder at a time. Good for you for having a goal, and passion. Then you have the the last 2% that use there status to tell everyone how much there life sucks! How they have been singled out, let down, disappointed, and all around have had the worst year of their lives! Well to those of you that fall into in that SMALL group, again NO ONE but you cares, NO ONE but you can fix it. The people that say oh I feel for you, Oh is there anything I can do? Have they ever really done anything to help you? Can they change your life? Can you change your life? Or are they just saying it to make you feel that you are just in thinking that your life is the pits? Life is hard for everyone, everyone has problems. You just don't hear thats its hard from everyone, some people are glass half full. I know a few people that are battling cancer and not a word of this sucks. People that a divorcing after almost 20 years, not a peep. A young girl that is not even 16 and had to have a hip replaced because she was in a car accident, doctors were surprised she lived! Let alone walked away. Can you imagine 16 years old and having your 1st of many hip replacements. Missing your 1st year of high school, because you are in rehab? Clearly just because things are not going your way you don't get to bring everyone down with you. I was raised that you never get more then you can handle. Trust me, like you I have handled my fair share, but I am better off that guy, I am not dying, sick, homeless, alone, scared, weak. Life is hard, its just not hard all the time. If you only have to take 365 days of crap out of 11, 000, sign me up.

I guess what I have learned this year is:

Life is hard. If it was easy people would do it twice! People say that child hood is the best part of your life, for me its what you try the rest of your life to over come. You get what you give, the Universe is a large place and you never know how this crazy world works. I believe in Karma! (enough said!) You should always try to be your best. Put out the same effort your expect in return, in every thing you do. Enjoy the small things in life. The morning coffee, the winter walks, that great book, find the true beauty in life, and what it means to you.

What status group would you fit in? (the funny pages, the news headliners, the do gooders, or the bitchers).  Just think if today is the day that you leave this world, what do you want people to say about you?

Well a year in review?

As this year comes to a close, I always think back to all that I have done. This year was a busy one! We spent last Christmas in the Canadian Rockies, the best place on earth. There is nothing and I mean nothing as beautiful as the cool crisp air, snowy mountains and dressing up in your winter gear to hit the trails. We spent every Saturday morning at the slopes with our then 5 year old boy Calder. He was in his 1st year of ski cub.

March brought our Mexican vacation, we went to Cabo San Lucas. We stayed the Barcelo, and I would send everyone there. The fire pits on the beach, great pools and bars, splash park for the little kids. The only down side of Cabo is that you can not swim in the ocean by the hotels! However we did snorkle at Santa Maria Bay!!!

School and Lacrosse were in full swing and in May I helped run the annual Lacrosse tournament. What I eye opening weekend! I have a 5-6 year old boy, its a GAME people!!! We hosted 54 teams ranging in age from 5-16, according to others it was the best tournament they have ever been too. I say we can always improve.

Summer came with a bang! Literally it rained all summer, the only weeks we had of summer were the ones we were gone! We traveled to Port Elgin, Niagara Falls, (Ontario)  Montreal, Trios Rivieres, Old Quebec City ( Quebec) and Plaster Rock  (New Brunswick). I have been to Ontario many times, my god parents have lived there since I was 6. Going to Quebec was a little nerve wrecking, I don't speak a word of French and neither does my son, French is Rene( my husbands) first language.  But everyone was wonderful! We seen our old room mate that moved back to Quebec 9 years ago. I got to meet my husbands family for the first time. My only regret is that we did not get more time in Quebec City! There is WAY too much to see. New Brunswick was nice the weather was not great, rainy! But we surprised my husbands Grandma for her 80th birthday. It was EPIC!

School started once again, this time Calder was in grade 1. You know what that means.... I have all day!!! To go for coffee, work out, clean the house... OR I work more. I guess the more I work the more holidays I can take. My son started playing hockey this year! Which both myself and my husband love. But we will see if he plays again, he loves it but he is FICKLE!

This Christmas is the first Christmas we did not go to the mountains, and it will be the last Christmas we spend at home. I love Christmas, but at home you have to cook, clean, visit, wash, dry, etc. At the mountains you can have waffles, eggs benny, turkey and trimmings, anything yours heart desires. And when you are done you just leave! You have way more time to visit, and play ( skate, ski, snowshoe, sled, swim, spa) because well you have all day and no chores. There is nothing and I mean NOTHING better then a Christmas day Pedicure or Massage TRUST me ladies, its the way too go!
